ProBono

We offer pro bono work on a regular basis in addition to our other services. Our team members are engaged in a variety of pro bono activities that benefit our local and wider communities. We use and apply our legal expertise to assist NGOs and charities on various issues that they encounter. We are proud to contribute to the development of the local economy and improvement in the quality of life within our society.

Our pro bono clients receive the same high standards of client service as our fee-paying clients, and in return, our team is given the opportunity to develop valuable experience and advocacy skills.

Our pro bono engagements include advice and legal representation to and on behalf of various charity groups, non-profit and other public interest organisations. We support their day-to-day operations by drafting byelaws, statutes and other documents, representing them before the courts, as well as advising on administrative issues.

As lawyers, we believe this part of our activity to be ethically important and to be fundamental to the integrity of the profession and the judicial system.

Some of the NGOs and charities we are helping on a pro bono basis include:

Friendship Bangladesh Primary School

In association with the House of Entrepreneurship of the Chamber of Commerce, we support the #ReAct programme providing pro-bono legal support.

Elvinger Hoss Prussen supports #ReAct

The Chamber of Commerce's House of Entrepreneurship, through its #ReAct programme, supports entrepreneurs who wish to develop, optimise, turn around, sell or terminate their business.

On 17 June 2021, our partners, Michel Nickels, Thierry Kauffman and Florence Apostolou hosted a training webinar entitled “Legal advice for established entrepreneurs,” to advise entrepreneurs to take the right steps when looking for advice from a lawyer. Too often, they seek advice when it is too late to resolve a dispute amicably. This training was dedicated to entrepreneurs who already have an activity and dealt with concrete cases and best practices.

Charity

Croix-Rouge luxembourgeoise

At the beginning of 2010 we entered into a long-term partnership with Croix-Rouge luxembourgeoise. Through this collaboration, the firm’s charity fundraising, pro bono work and volunteering efforts come together. Not only do we support the Luxembourg Red Cross financially, but we also give them moral and personal support in their various projects and events. Participating in the Croix-Rouge’s annual “Quinzaine du Don”, collecting material for refugees, organising internal fundraising events or promoting blood donation are just some of the projects in which the entire staff is involved and where we endeavour to improve the lives of vulnerable people.

Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner

Since 2008 we have been actively and financially supporting the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner (a registered charity in aid of children with cancer).

Friendship

Established in Bangladesh in 1998, "Friendship" is a value-based organisation, which identifies and reaches the poorest of the poor and the most marginalised communities in Bangladesh. Friendship's primary mission is to help the destitute population of the Nomad Islands (the Chars) located on the Brahmaputra, and to bring emergency relief and rehabilitation to disaster-stricken areas of the country. It acts primarily in the areas of health, education, economic development and emergency assistance. There is also an important cultural preservation dimension to its commitment. Our financial support to Friendship is more particularly designated to co-fund an integrated development project (health, education, vocational training and income generation) in 6 Nomad Islands located on the Brahmaputra in the Northern districts of Bangladesh.

Fair trade

Since the beginning of 2010 we have been actively supporting Fair Trade by offering certified fair-trade coffee, sugar, chocolate and orange juice for consumption on our premises and organising promotional events on a regular basis.

Environment

We have established an environmental management programme and have strengthened initiatives to encourage recycling and the use of environmentally friendly products. To this end, we exclusively use recycled FSC paper and, as far as possible, promote black and double-sided printing by default. For all our office supplies we choose “green” products, i.e. re-usable products and products made of recycled and/or recyclable materials whenever these are available. Moreover, we ensure that waste is properly separated. We were awarded the "SuperDrecksKëscht fir Betriber" label in 2011.
