Elvinger Hoss Prussen Lunch Talk “The Luxembourg Register of Beneficial Owners”

On Wednesday 24th April, we welcomed selected clients from various business sectors to an interactive lunch talk on the application of the Luxembourg Law of the 13th January 2019 creating a register of beneficial owners (“RBO Law”), which entered into force on the 1st March 2019.

The lively discussion was conducted by members of our RBO Task Force: Pit Reckinger, Gast Juncker, André Hoffmann, Sophie Dupin and Katrien Veranneman.

They addressed critical issues relating to the identification of the ultimate beneficial owner (“UBO”) of Luxembourg legal entities and other key matters of the RBO Law. Different case scenarios were discussed setting out how to identify the UBO in the case of, inter alia, indirect ownership, listed companies, ownership by trusts or in specific investment funds or private equity contexts.

Questions of attendees were addressed during the presentation allowing the speakers to share their analysis of critical practical matters but there was also some time before and after the talk for our partners to network or to answer to individual cases. Our guests stated that the talk was “very constructive and explicit”.
