On 26 - 27 March 2019, at the inaugural Stand Speak Rise Up! international conference in Luxembourg, HRH The Grand Duchess convened leaders from the national and international community and from public, private, NGO, legal and academic sectors. This event created a platform to connect stakeholders and survivors of sexual violence as a weapon of war to build new partnerships, scale existing efforts, and identify innovative and lasting solutions.
Among the speakers were three Nobel Peace Prize laureates, namely Dr Denis Mukwege, Nadia Murad and Professor Muhamad Yunus. Our partners Manou Hoss, Katia Panichi and Luc Frieden attended the conference which was also supported by our firm.
In support of the conference, we organised a flashmob along with other companies in our neighbourhood, involving some 200 people on 25 March. Participating offices were Axa Assurances, Luxembourg Stock Exchange, Clifford Chance, Delvaux Notary Public, Fondation Elisabeth Stëftung, LetterOne, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Equal Opportunities.
In parallel to the flashmob we also ran a photo campaign on LinkedIn with the members of our firm. Our flashmob and photo campaign had the objective to put a spotlight on the Stand Speak Rise Up! initiative, raise awareness about violence against women as a weapon and clearly state that we stand in solidarity with survivors.
Following the success of a first flashmob organised to support the Orange Week in November, this second gathering further corroborated the spirit of diversity and the willingness to promote gender equality that characterise our firm.
