Law amending certain paid leaves

On 18 December 2017, a law aiming at reforming leave for family reasons and certain extraordinary paid leave (“Law”) was published in the official gazette (Mémorial A).

This Law will enter into force on 1 January 2018.

The most significant changes to be introduced by the Law are the following:

  • extension of paternity leave to ten days;
  • extension of maternity leave to twelve weeks, irrespective of whether the mother is breastfeeding her child or not;
  • more flexibility in relation to leave for family reasons.
